Rushing to a Red Light
Having moved to Chicago from the suburbs of Minneapolis, the rush of the city has always had an intoxicating effect on me. The active pulse of life feeds my enthusiasm to capture this same unrest, but the pitfalls of staying busy are not lost on me. Around every corner you can see an individual struggling against this current, which is what turned my lens on for “Rushing to a Red Light.” When captured candidly, it seems this pressure is enough to make anyone break–we sacrifice fulfillment and happiness everyday, while prepping for some perfect tomorrow. This work was originally shown as a solo show at Kit Gallery in Tokyo, Japan in August 2018.
