Growing up in the endless-scroll era, my concept of skill has always been grounded equally to the quality and consistency of one’s work. Similarly, I’ve always been fascinated with world-building: the idea that a material’s potency can be so strong that the reader abandons established conventions to accept the presented narrative. In the past, contact sheets could satisfy both of these interests by offering an intimate, unfiltered glimpse at the photographer’s perspective. This transparency was the inspiration for Latest, a flood of selects separated by date that they’re scanned and edited. Most of these won’t make the cut for a book or show, but by dumping them here, I get the satisfaction of “releasing” the photos so I can go back to making more.
