Fort Greene Dog Costume Contest
Even after reading that there would be 120 official contestants, I couldn’t have expected the turnout for Fort Greene’s 21st-annual Dog Costume Contest. Utilizing an open-air bandshell layout, it seemed like the whole neighborhood sat with jaws-dropped as proud pup parents paraded their pets (whew) across the stage. After roaming the crowd, grabbing flicks of the many hopefuls who didn’t make the cut, I found a perfect perch just off the stage to catch contestants as they finished their showcase. This was one of my favorite events to shoot in a long time--everyone seemed to bond in just how funny the festivities were.
