Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm & Fall Fest

Maybe it’s the Midwest coursing through me, but when my girlfriend asked if we could go to a pumpkin patch, I could think of no better spot for a date. Of course there are logistics that go with this--with an hour drive separating us and our pumpkin picking excursion, my coworker luckily let me flex his Tiguan in my first driving trek since moving from Minnesota.

But upon arrival this place proved it wasn’t just about the pumpkins, it was a whole Autumn-themed park of attractions. First off, I love a good corn pit--I don’t know what it is, but playing in a vat of vegetables will turn any kid into a energized, professional wrestler. 30 yards from a pig racing course that spared no expense, was the artisanal-apple-cider-donut maker who I legally had to buy a half-dozen from. Before leaving we partook in the one-of-a-kind experience in finding a pumpkin that represents you, a la picking your starting pokemon, or developing a spirit animal.
